MAGIC IMAGE HOLLYWOOD MAGAZINE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF INTERVIEWING ACTRESS, SINGER, MODEL & DANCER BRIANA COURTS, SHE OPENED HER HEART TO US AND TALKED ABOUT HER CAREER AND PROJECTS; LET’S SEE WHAT SHE IS ALL ABOUT…
MIHM-Tell us a little bit about you. Where are you from and what inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
BC- I am from the beautiful city of San Diego and lived in California for over thirteen years. Then I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Top 1%).
Additionally, I am a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society and the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society. (I minored in sociology!)
Throughout my life I have always loved singing, ballet/lyrical dancing, acting, modeling, playing the flute, gymnastics, traveling, cooking, camping, hiking, weight lifting, horseback riding, and attending concerts and Broadway shows.
I have modeling experience in athletic wear, bridal wear, night wear, swim wear, evening gowns, catalogs, commercials, promotional events, web-series, and commercial print. I have also won multiple national dancing and singing competitions (including the National Dance Alliance-All American Award).
Furthermore, I absolutely love competing in beauty pageants. Throughout the years I have won over fifteen local, city, state, and national titles. I worked as an External Auditor for one of the top four accounting firms in the world, Ernst & Young, and gained incredible experience. Currently, I am the Senior Auditor at Zappos.com, Inc. (Subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc.).
I have endless passion, commitment, and dedication. Thus, I plan to work hard every day and accomplish much more in my lifetime.
MIHM-You are a singer, actress, model, and dancer. Which one makes your heart beat fastest?
BC- I appreciate all art forms and truly have a passion for singing, acting, modeling, and dancing. Each holds a special place in my heart; therefore, I will continue with them until the very end.
MIHM-You are Senior Auditor for Zappos.com. Tell us little bit about that.
BC- I provide independent and objective evaluations of the company’s financial and operational business activities. I maintain company compliance through internal audits, internal controls testing, and compliance testing. I absolutely love my job and feel truly blessed to work for such an incredible company.
MIHM-You have a Master of Science Degree in Accountancy. What made you decide on Accountancy?
BC- I have a passion for forensic accounting and fraud detection. Thus, I wanted to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Accountancy in order to succeed in that profession.
As such, I gained an understanding of economic theories, business information, financial reporting systems, accounting and auditing processes and procedures, data analysis techniques for fraud detection, evidence gathering and investigative techniques, and litigation procedures.
MIHM- You belong to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. How did you get involved in these organizations?
BC- Due to my high grade point average in college, I was personally invited to join these incredible organizations. Their many benefits included networking, career resources, leadership development, and guidance/support relating to social service, scholarships, and awards. I enjoyed being involved in these prestigious organizations!
MIHM- You are also a beauty queen with multiple titles. Tell us about that experience.
BC- Yes! I love competing in beauty pageants as they teach self-confidence, stage presence, posture, discipline, and much more. Most importantly, representing a pageant organization helps reach diverse communities as well as giving participants the opportunity/voice to spread awareness of their platforms.
I am currently Ms. International World USA and feel truly honored to represent this amazing pageant organization. I am representing the United States next summer as I compete against the other countries for the Ms. International World title. I look forward to meeting the extraordinary women who will be competing!
MIHM-Who have been your biggest mentors in your career?
BC- I had many brilliant mentors throughout my career including Ernst & Young and Zappos Managers. However, my mother is my biggest mentor as she taught me the meaning of hard work, dedication, commitment, and self-worth.
During my childhood, I watched my mother maintain a successful career and fulfill family obligations. She is one of the hardest workers I know. I am grateful for everything she taught me.
MIHM-What other projects are you working on right now?
BC- Currently I am focusing on my professional career, modeling, acting, and upcoming competitions. I look forward to what the future brings and I’m excited about the new adventures to come!
