THE HOLLYROD FOUNDATION: Holly and Rodney Peete created the foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, in 1999 after they lost Holly’s father to Parkinson’s and their eldest son, R.J. was diagnosed with autism. In October 2012, after years of planning and strategizing, HRF awarded its inaugural grant to develop and launch the first HollyRod Autism Compassionate Care Center, a unique constellation of autism resources, services, and one-one-one support, all with a family-centered focus at California State University, Northridge. In 2014, HollyRod launched the RJ Place grant to provide assistive technology to children’s hospitals and autism centers. As these children grow, they require vocational training and specialized job placement assistance to transition to mainstream life and gainful employment. The RJ’s Place grants now support toddlers to young adults in over a dozen locations across the U.S. and Canada with a dozen more scheduled by 2018. The foundation seeks to fill an unmet need by providing compassionate care and services to underserved individuals and families that are burdened financially and emotionally by a diagnosis. @HollyRodFDN
