Meet Ms. World America Elite , Oil & Gas consultant and South-Central US Regional Director of Ms. World America. ANGELA MURRAY! Let’s see what she is all about!
MIHM-Tell us a little bit about you and where you are you from?
AM-I was raised in the country on a farm and ranch in a small east Texas town along with three siblings. I spent most of my time in the great outdoors hunting and fishing on the riverbanks with my family. From a very young age, my parents taught me the importance of good character and work ethic. Three words that best describe me are compassionate, driven, and loyal. I am also very strong-minded, but I’m never close-minded. If you ask anyone who knows me well, they would probably tell you that I don’t like to be told that I am not capable of doing something because I will show you that I am going to try my darnedest to do it!
MIHM-You are the reigning Ms. World America Elite 2022. Tell us about that experience.
AM-had the honor of representing the state of Louisiana at the Ms. World America pageant this past August in Hollywood, Florida where I was crowned Ms. World America Elite 2022, a divisional title. Contestants compete in four phases of competition throughout the event; beauty, fitness, interview, and photogenic. The event is four nights and five days of team building experiences. Delegates participate in group challenges and various themed photoshoots that showcase individual uniqueness of beauty, modeling ability, and camera appeal. In the spirit of competition, the goal is to inspire women to come together to share their passions and promote their platforms. At the final phase of the competition, ladies are awarded their titles. The Ms. World Corporation hosts the World America, World International, Universe World International, USA Universe World International events. Divisional titles, as well as specialty and grand titles, allows for several different paths to the crown.
All USA/America title winners have the opportunity to compete at the international level the following year. Although I am very grateful for this title and super-excited to be competing internationally this year, the greatest reward has come from all the doors this has opened for me. It has been one heck of a ride and I am looking forward to see what the future still has in store!
MIHM-You are the South-Central US Regional Director of Ms. World America. Tell us more.
AM-After winning my divisional title for America, I had the opportunity to take a directorship for the south-central US region. As part of my platform, I was looking for a way to help inspire other women to embrace the social movement of body positivity and change the way the stereotypical idea of beauty is promoted. Ms. World International is breaking the mold of the traditional pageant standards. It was for this reason, I chose to compete myself. For me, it was all about a journey of living life to the fullest, as well as, finding self-love again, and I couldn’t think of a better way to help other ladies do the same.
MIHM-Define what success means to you?
AM-Fulfillment. Success is all about a mindset. I really don’t count my wins and losses, per say. Rather, I count the blessings I have in my life. You know, the things that are most important to me. I have family and friends who love me and support me. When things don’t work out that way that I hoped or planned for, I try to keep a positive outlook. Wins build champions but so do loses. Success is unlimited. It isn’t the outcome that makes one successful, it’s the way you deal with your failures in order to become a better version of yourself every day.
MIHM-Who have been your biggest mentors in your career?
AM-There are too many to name! Relationship-building is the key to everything! I am naturally a curious person so if I want to learn something, I reach out to find out. I have some wonderful people in my life whom I have met along the way and have made a lasting friendships with. We help each other any way we can.
MIHM-You work in the Oil & Gas Industry. What do you do?
AM-I am a consultant with Atta Gurl Consulting based in Midland, Texas. Our company is a “matchmaker” so to speak. We put vendors and clients together. Our team acts as a sales representative, a business developer, and marketer all-in-one. Because we represent multiple companies, we have bulk buying power, therefore, we can offer greater discounts. With us, you get a whole team for the price of one.
MIHM-If you could work with somebody you admire, celebrity, politician, musician, leader or anybody else who would it be and why?
AM-Dolly Parton! Now that’s a real beauty queen and boss-babe! I love her spunk and bubbly personality. She has such a positive outlook on everything. Nothing seems to ruffle that chick’s feathers! I so much admire that and aspire to be like that. She is talented and smart; a true legend in her own right. I would love to meet her one day!

MIHM-Tell me about your team.
AM-I have a wonderful team of hosts, models, queens, and friends. I could not do it without their support. Brigitte (Raymond) Parfait is my daughter and right hand. She is my best friend and biggest supporter. Aaliyah Meshell is a business-owner, model and beauty queen. She was my first state queen as a director. Jolene Cooper, middle school educator, is one of my best friends and my event assistant. She has been so amazing and helpful in so many ways. Zach Trichell, Well Operations Supervisor and Steele Merritt, Facilities Engineer (Oil & Gas Industry), are two of my dearest friends. They never hesitate to give me business advice or help wherever and however needed. They have been hosts, models, and supporters. They have participated in fundraisers and charity events. True gentlemen. Jennifer Russell, Wildflower Photography, is my #1 go-to for any of my photography needs. I love her work. I can give her an idea, she puts her magic touch on it, and then it turns out better than expected.
Donnie Hudson is my videographer. He has this wonderful creative mind that produces some of the best work I have seen. I value everyone on this team so much. Not only do they have their own careers and goals, they do what they can to help me when I reach out.
